The Band

Set up in a non-conventional big band style, the band consists of an exciting combination of brass players and driving rhythm section

Brass Section

Conventional trombone and reed sections do not feature in the band, but instead are replaced by baritone and mellophone instruments (as made famous by the big band leader Stan Kenton in the 1960's). The brass line up is completed by a team of trumpet players.

The Music

The repertoire of the Anchormen Ensemble spans many decades and takes in a variety of popular Big Band styles. From the early years of jazz legends such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington, through to the more modern day masterpieces by Stan Kenton, Rob McConnell and Pat Metheny, the band will take you through a musical journey passing through some of the world's Big Band greats. The band does however remain open-minded towards the big band jazz idiom and all different musical tastes and styles are covered within their repertoire.

To help you decide if the Anchormen Ensemble is the right band for your event, please view the music section of the web site or check the media section of the site, where you can download and listen to samples of the band and also view live action photographs of the band in the pictures section.

By far and away the best way to truly appreciate the band's exciting line up is to witness them during a live performance. The band believes that it's success, popularity and appeal is down to the simple philosophy of providing quality and variety to it's audiences and most of all making sure that everyone, both performer and audience member, has a great time in the process.
